Hi I'm Blake. A gaming nerd that provides tax services
When I'm not immersed in delivering key strategic advice for my clients and team, you'll find me dedicated to grinding board and card game tournaments.
About me
I'm Blake Thompson, Strategic Tax Manager at Marsh & Partners. When I'm not immersed in delivering key strategic advice for my clients and team, you'll find me dedicated to grinding board and card game tournaments.
My journey started with a Bachelor of Business at QUT, majoring in Professional Accounting with a specialization in Company Law and Taxation. After graduating, I dived into the professional world at a local firm in Bowen Hills. Those early days were a trial by fire—facing clients, providing advice, owning up to mistakes, and celebrating successes. I quickly learned that every question deserves an answer, and usually a couple more questions.
In my initial years at Marsh & Partners, I delved deep into the intricacies of the primary production industry. Armed with skills in Tax, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Financial Analysis, and Financial Reporting, I now bring that knowledge and experience to my role as a Strategic Tax Manager. My responsibilities include handling CFO & financial control, cash flow forecasts, budgets and projections, rulings and advice, and managing ATO audits.
What I'm Enjoying

MTG Arena (PC)
Good old rock, nothing beats rock. When it comes to lifestyle games how could you not keep coming back. Easy to throw in some games on PC or mobile once the kids are in bed and the chores are done.
RDW takes a hit with the Leyline ban, but I'm still enjoying RW tokens and my mono Black kill-quest deck where everything is either removal or deathouch.

Shadow Generations (Switch)
Year of Shadow is turning into an absolute feast. Beautiful game with an engaging story.

Arkham Horror (Tabletop)
The new RPG I picked up at PAX following the session by Acquisitions Inc. I'm preparing for my first campaign after running a halloween one-shot. A breath of fresh (or cold stale necrotic) air after all the DND-5E this year.

The Survivalists
Island exploration and survival crafting but with a more cozy theme.

Go Go Town (PC)
A great little town builder. Soundtrack is amazing vibe. Its more cozy economic engine than cozy island simulator. But I am really enjoying recruiting travelers to the town and getting them to work. Upgrading the town and automation makes it nice to enjoy building out the rest of the city aesthetic.
Upcoming Plans
Over the next months I'm looking forward to:
